I am a new user and could not start a new topic (the top right link does not work), but I have the same issue. My mother was a state government employee as a lecturer. The government issued a circular in 2006 stating that the retirement date was in 2004! So my mother had already worked for 2 years. For those 2 years, she was paid a salary. Since January 2006, she has been on a pension. There was no overpayment on the part of the government, yet they did not release the payment of gratuity (which is usually done smoothly without any requests). No written order has been given by the government, but the word from the office clerks is that this money will not be paid because she worked for those 2 years. This does not make sense.
Steps to Address Gratuity Payment Issues
1) How can we get the communication from the government? Is there any format of a letter that I should write to them?
2) If they do not respond, what is the next step?
3) Is there an RTI act, etc., that we can take help of?
Thanks,
Deb
