How Does Respect and Understanding Shape True Leadership in HR?

"True leadership is without the authority of the chair. The first step towards gaining acceptance of your leadership by others is to respect others' feelings in all your interactions. Where there is respect and understanding between people, acceptance and alignment happen."

Please simplify the tips you are sharing. It is very difficult to understand. Could you provide a simplified version of your above HR tip so that a layman like me can easily understand and digest the meaning of the HR tip?
