Why Is 'Orissa' Changing to 'Odisha'? Understanding the Recent Parliamentary Bill

The name of 'Orissa' State is proposed to be changed to 'Odisha'. A Bill to this effect has been passed by Parliament yesterday, i.e., on 6.9.2011 (copy attached). It will be effective from such date as may be notified, after getting the assent of the President.
