Calculating Employee Lateness with Varied Schedules: How Do You Manage It?

Hi CiteHR, I'm looking for a formula to calculate the lateness of employees with different schedules during the week.

Clarifying Late Coming Policy

Your requirement is not clear. For late coming, you have to send a circular to all the employees about the timings and the maximum relaxation that the company prefers:

- A maximum of thirty minutes or three times in a month.
- For example, if an employee is delayed by 5 minutes, 10 minutes, and 5 minutes, totaling twenty minutes, then their accepted relaxed time is over. If the delay reaches 30 minutes in a single stretch, they are not eligible for any further relaxation, either one or the other.
- Beyond 3 times or 30 minutes, the penalty needs to be mentioned.

In the above manner, you have to prepare a communication and forward it to all the employees and implement it.

Thanks and regards,

I'm having some trouble computing the lateness of employees. The normal hours of work are 8 hours, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with a lunch break from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. I can only calculate the number of hours worked, but not for lateness.

Calculating Lateness Without Decimalization

For example, if an employee logs in at 8:30 am, then they are late by 30 minutes. How can I calculate that without the need for decimalization of minutes?
