This is to inform you that I have been working for the same company for the past 17 years (i.e., I joined before my marriage). After getting married, I submitted my marriage certificate and all necessary documents to our HR department to change my maiden name on the PF slip. However, I am still receiving the PF slip with my maiden name. The HR department has informed me that the PF department cannot alter the data once it has been entered for an individual.

Please advise on what steps I should take so that I can receive my PF slip from Ahmedabad under my new name.

Steps to Change Name in PF

First, you need to write a letter stating that you want to change the name in your PF account and the reason for it. Your employer must provide a letter stating that you have changed your name. Ensure the letter has the seal and signature of your employer. Have an ID proof that shows your new name. Submit all these documents to the PF office.

One more thing, Bharathi, for a change of name, we must prepare an affidavit. It should be published in the Gazette. With the Gazette copy and affidavit copy, one can easily change the names in all the documents.
