manjunathbdm
Hi all
I am Manjunath here from Bangalore, the reason behind my posting is ... Actually we have a client who are into Kitchen Interiors and we are Manpower Service providers to them... They have a condition in which the candidate who gets selected is supposed to provide a Blank Cheque signed with them as a security to get rid of leaving the job... So for this the candidates are not accepting for the same... Please suggest me with points as how to convince the candidates for the same.. Please your feedback will help me a lot..
Thanks and Regards

Dear Manjunath,
The terms you stated are illegal and unethical. If this can be proved then they may get into trouble.
This condition should be opposed and you cannot force employees’ to work if they want to leave the job.
I don't expect any one here will help you.

Hi Manjunath
Which company is this? asking for signed blank cheques from candidates, this is either hilarious or disgusting, depends on the seriousness of the issue, Morever I dont understand How are you seeking opinions on convincing candidates for such illegal and unethical act.
Are you not aware even by common sense standards this is a wrong practice!
Kindly clear the air about the recruitments terms.
Hope this is helpful
Best Wishes

I also agree with Seniors it is illegal and unethical practice which should be avoided in any case. Taking and giving blank cheque (without date and/or amount) is prohibited under Negotiable instrument Act and other banking laws. Practically if you are taking signed cheque then also it will loss validity after 6 months and no employer wants employer for such short period with such condition.

You should not be doing work for such a client in the first place.
However, it's easy enough to convince the candidates to give a blank cheque. Just tell them to issue a stop order to the bank saying then cheque is misplaced. Also put a wrong signature on the cheque so it will bounce anyway.
I guess one illegal action deserves another.

Dear Mr. Manjunath
You have done a nice job that you have left the job from that organisation. Congratulations Mr. Manjunath.
Never ever do such act of demanding for signed blank cheque.
Okay for getting the job I give a blank cheque and while leaving the job if I give an Instruction to my bank to stop payment for the blank cheque, then what will be the action to be taken against me by your so called company?
Let other seniors analyse the issue and reply. Till then we can wait.

Hey, Bhaskar
I suggested exactly that Iin my post.
Just tell the candidate to give a cheque, with wrong signature and the ask hin to tell his bank to stop payment saying its lost :)
