Can I Transfer My Gratuity to a New Job? Seeking Advice on the Process

neeraj4ever
Hi all, I am eligible for gratuity from my company as I have completed 5 years with the organization. I came to know from some of the seniors that we can transfer our gratuity to another organization while switching the organization. I would like to know the process for this. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to CiteHR. We have not heard of such a system or provision in the PG Act to transfer the gratuity amount to another organization. If you are transferred to another organization with continuity of service, then in that case, you will receive gratuity from that organization, and you will get the benefit of this service while calculating gratuity.

Why is Doordarshan Promoting Gratuity Transfers?

But sir, why is Doordarshan nowadays giving government advertisements that suggest we should not withdraw our gratuity from the previous organization, but instead transfer it to the new organization to get maximum benefits later on? I also want to know the procedure for transferring gratuity. Please help.

Gratuity and Superannuation Transfer

Gratuity cannot be transferred from one organization to another. However, at the same time, the superannuation funds of an individual can be transferred from one organization to another, provided the new organization offers superannuation benefits. I have never heard of gratuity transfer so far. If anyone can shed light on this, I would appreciate it.

You are mistaken. The advertisement (I have not noticed it as I do not view Doordarshan regularly) might be on the transfer of PROVIDENT FUND and not gratuity.
