What Questions Should Be Asked While Interviewing Someone?

In an interview, it is crucial to ask questions that help assess the candidate's qualifications, skills, experience, and fit for the role and the company. Some key questions to consider asking may include:

1. Can you tell me about yourself and your background?
2. What interests you about this position and our company?
3. How do your skills and experience align with the requirements of the role?
4. Can you provide an example of a challenging situation you faced at work and how you handled it?
5. How do you handle feedback and criticism?
6. What are your career goals and how do you see yourself achieving them in this role?
7. How do you stay updated with industry trends and developments?
8. Can you describe a successful project you completed and the impact it had?
9. How do you handle working under pressure or tight deadlines?
10. Do you have any questions for us about the role or the company?

These questions can help you gain valuable insights into the candidate's abilities, personality, and potential fit within your organization.

Your interview questions will be based on both the job description and person specification you have prepared for the vacant position. You need to ask questions relevant to the job being filled to ensure you get the right person with the skills, experience, knowledge, and cultural fit with YOUR ORGANIZATION. Simply asking members here for a list of "interview questions" is totally useless. We do not work for your organization, nor do we know what position you are filling or what type of person you need. I think you need to implement a project to quantify and define an appropriate recruitment process for your company.

While you are interviewing the candidate, as per the post, I hope most of the candidates will be freshers. So, you should ask questions to identify the capability of the candidate to do that particular job. To identify that while you are talking to the candidate, assess his/her energy level. Ask some questions to examine the basic knowledge in their field of study/education. If he/she is a fresher, encourage more discussion to assess communication skills. Inquire about the projects he/she has completed - delve deeply into this to gauge the level of seriousness devoted. While the candidate is explaining, observe his attitude. Ask them why they are seeking a job in this particular field.

These are some of the fundamental aspects you should consider.

To Seniors,

Please clarify if the mentioned points are incorrect. If so, I am open to improvements.

If you are interviewing freshers, there is not much use in looking at the job description and the person's fit for the role. The areas you should concentrate on are the candidate's basic and generic skills such as communication, analytical and logical abilities, attitude, cultural fit, and commitment. You need to construct questions that assess these general areas. Anyway, the job-specific skills have to be taught to a fresher.
