Publish Paper in Refereed Journal - UGC's requirement - before a research Scholar is awarded a Ph.D. degree

Since the year 2009 it is a UGC's requirement that before a research Scholar is awarded a Ph.D. degree, he/she must publish a paper in a Refereed Journal.

Dear Shri Narasimhan,

I regularly follow the links wherein you post your advise, recommendation on various issues in Management field. I rarely post articles since almost all of them want ready and quick fix sollutions. i am from Chennai. After working with leading organisations for 20 years, I started one MSME enterprise in HR field in 2005. And currently I cater to the small groups of clients successfully.( again leading ones in their own areas). Besides this , I embarked on academic side also as a regular visiting faculty in 2 reputed Universities in Chennai in 2008.

I have passion to work on academic side and therefore I passed out with MBA degree with 1st class after a gap of nearly 25 years. I have also registered with PH.D in a reputed University in HR subjects. I am pursuing my academic interests at the age of 53 seriously. I am of the firm opinion that it is not late to learn and share in teaching field.

May I request you to suggest some good and reputed journals in which I can try and publish articles in order to correctly do my research work and take inputs from other fellow members?

Thank you for your interest in my posts. I also took up research by part-time mode in my mid 50's. Though I presented papers, at Refereed International Conferences and published papers in journals, I did not finish my PhD, as my priorities changed mid course.

I used to be a very active Book Review Editor for a few journals on Quality with the Emerald Group Publishing. Now, due to becoming a grandfather and a bit of physical problems, I am not that active with Reviewing work. Still I have good contacts with the company. Emerald is one of largest publishers of management journals. Probably, you will have seen my ppt presentations on Author Workshop and Research Methodology at CiteHR.

Kindly see the journals in the link at Emerald | HR, Learning & Organization Studies I am sure there a journals on HR published by other companies such as John Wiley, Elsevier, etc. For example see Guide for authors | Human Resource Management Review | 1053-4822 | Elsevier and Human Resource Management Journal - Wiley Online Library It's a question of checking in your library and picking one that interests you.

Please feel free to pick my "empty" brain.

You will be able to see the abstract of most articles published by journal publishers. However, you can access full articles through your university library if they subscribe to theose jornals or to some other servie provider. For examples of access to journals please click on Emerald | Strategic Direction | Table of contents | Volume 29 issue 5 - Current Issue

A way that has worked for me as an academic is writing to the authors explaining who you are and why you need a copy. They usually oblige.
