Hi friends, for your kind information, please do not post email IDs in your threads. Even though CITE HR bans new members from posting their email IDs, some people who are already in this forum are sharing their IDs or phone numbers, which can be misused. We provide email IDs or phone numbers for useful purposes or seeking help regarding work-related problems and seeking guidance. However, some request connections on social networking sites, causing disturbances. While it's good to receive useful solutions, there is a risk of misuse. Therefore, please be cautious when sharing your email IDs or phone numbers on any website. As a well-wisher for all, I am sharing this advice. Any mistakes, please apologize.

My advice: Before you post anywhere, be sure you know what will happen to your email address when you do.

The Debate on Sharing Personal Information

What about the people who have benefited by doing the same (posting their CVs and sharing contact numbers)? I don't agree with this overly prophylactic approach. It has always been an individual's decision whether to post their contact numbers or CVs on the portal.

My suggestion is for the HR community to be courageous in dealing with such prevailing nonsensical issues on an individual basis. The choice has always been yours, after all. It's not like Facebook, where most people come with different mindsets!

I agree with you. What I am saying may not be suitable for everyone, but as a precautionary measure, I am saying this. I am asking you to use the email ID or number properly, not misuse it. If it is good and producing good results, then there is no problem. My view is directed towards those who misuse it. I hope you understand.

Despite a lot of traffic on the way to one's home-office and the frequent road accidents that happen on it because of some careless drunk-driving and rushing, I'm sure that no one stops using that road to go to the office or returning back home.

The Importance of Sharing Personal Information

My point is that even though our personal information (PI) can be misused unethically by a certain group, we must not refrain from providing it if it's helpful for even a single person. Instead of regressing back to the Ancient and Uncivilized Age, we must be prepared to face the challenges of the Modern World.

We must be more careful and analyze the situation wherever it is extremely required to disclose our PI. For example, we must not post our PI in reply to posts asking for it without giving their own identity, as many have done in the case of a few posts on this site requesting Freelancers to provide their emails/contacts just for empanelment, while the thread owner's identity remained veiled. Otherwise, we can provide the same in reply to posts regarding clarification needed in posters' doubts and confusions in complex processes.

I hope that you and others have understood its importance by this.

Concern for Female Members Sharing Contact Information

Varsha is concerned about females here, which is correct as it is not advisable for females to give out their phone numbers. Instead, they can provide their email addresses if they really want to help new HRs here. For this, one can create a separate email address for advice purposes only. If you receive something negative, you can easily avoid it. I don't think people are so immature as to behave in a certain way! This problem can be handled wisely.

No, Varsha. Job portals should not have all girls' and boys' mobile numbers and personal details through CVs. If this is happening, it could cause trouble for all job portal subscribers. However, most HR professionals using this platform may not encounter this issue. There is no need to worry about it.

Why Only for Girls?

It should be for boys also because lots of boys also get tortured after posting their mobile numbers on sites. 

Whosoever posts their mobile number/email ID is responsible for their deed.

In my opinion, posting an email ID is not risky at all. After you get to know a person, you can give them your phone number. I have given my phone number to many girls and boys in this forum, and I have the phone numbers of many boys and girls. We are all good friends, no torture, nothing  only sweet, cute friendship.

This is a very important discussion among all of us. I agree with Mr. Neelanjana and Brijesh. They have suggested not sharing email and mobile numbers with anyone.

Hey Varsha, I should thank you for making us aware and reminding us that some people actually take advantage of our email IDs and phone numbers. We are so innocent that we provide email IDs for some help, but that has to be stopped!

Yes, of course, we can't help people. We can only make them aware of what we are posting. As you said, your point of view is correct. We will try to extend this thread and also make everyone, especially girls, aware.
