Struggling with Performance Appraisals in Small IT Firms? Seeking Guidance on Fair Practices

Dear all, this is Rekha Rawat. I am an HR professional in a small IT company in Noida. I am finding it challenging to initiate a process for performance appraisal. Could someone assist me in understanding the procedure for conducting a transparent appraisal system that can be implemented in a low or mid-level company?

Rate of Increment and Procedure

I also would like to know what rate of increment can be given and the procedure for it.

Performance Appraisal Process

The following is the process we have for our company for Performance Appraisal:

1. Define the guidelines and the timeframe for each process in Performance Appraisal.
2. Issue the performance appraisal forms to all the units/offices/branches.
3. Inform all employees to fill out the self-appraisal part within the timeframe set by the HR department.
4. The forms will then go to the respective HODs for evaluation, and the ratings will be given by them.
5. The forms will then come to the HR department within a speculative timeframe.
6. The HR Department will then work on an Excel sheet, and the data will go for approval from MD/VP-HR.
7. The HR Department will then issue the increment letters and/or promotion letters to the employees.
