Maternity Leave Period

Dear All,
I need the details whether private sector employees can avail the maternity leave period for 6 month, same as government employees. if not, when it's going to come into act.

In private sectors, it depends upon the HR policies of that firm. Many of The private sector companies do have the same 6 months maternity leave, but there is no such condition to be applicable to all firms.

Most of the private firms follow The Maternity Benefit Act 1961.
As per the act 84 days paid leave can be availed by a pregnant woman. this can be extended if required as per the provisions in the act.
