Closing a Labor License: What Steps Do I Need to Follow and Are There Forms?

sanjayshah67
Can anyone please inform me of the procedure to close the labor license? Also, please send the forms, if any, for closing the license.

Thanks,

Sanjay

Dear Sanjay,

Please obtain Form VI-B (Completion of Work Certificate - Post/Pre-defect Liability Period) from the client, prepare Form VI-A (Commencement/Completion of Job Certificate) from the side of the contractor, and attach the Xerox copy of the Security Deposit Challan initially paid (as per the number of workmen engaged).

Now, prepare a covering letter stating that the work is completed. Hence, request a refund of the Labour security deposit addressed to the License-issuing Authority. Attach the original Labour License, Xerox copy of the Security Deposit paid challan, Form VI-A, and Form VI-B.

Hand over the same to the License-issuing authority office and wait. You will receive information from the Treasury/Licensing Authority to collect the refund. They will issue a cheque after deducting approximately Rs. 100 to 150.

This is the process I followed in Hyderabad for two licenses, and I successfully received the refund.

If you have new jobs in hand or are enhancing the labor strength for an existing job, you can transfer the security deposit for the new job as well.

Warm regards,

S. Bhaskar
