I was born in down south but did my college, work and all other things in North lived most of my life in North, having great experiences both good and bad.
one thing we need pay attention here is that everyone respects and his or her own culture and the culture comes with different attitude, behaviour, beliefs, clothing and practices.
South Indian is always harassed in north and the north in the south and that is an individual experience and let us not generalize. let us not use this forum to find out who is big and who is right or great.
We are here for a job and that is our choice and we need to live and let live others
As educated, HRs dealing with people let us open our eyes to few realities and practices the good of it
1. See the culture around and live accordingly
2. learn the language as there is noway we can survive with one or two languages in India
3. dress code let us respect the place one has come to live
4. Put your self in others shoe and see things from their side
5. let your fun does not hurt others sentiment
6. leave the generalization of an issue then we can deal the situation
7. be true to yourself in clothing, practices as one did in his or her own place
If Someone Religiously biased
it is his right and if he press others to follow or influence then he is making a crime
these type of people have to be dealt carefully as they can pull crowds to support as HR we get in to trouble
i worked in a Christian company but the employees are Hindus and Muslims with different beliefs yet we respect their festivals and importance and they do the same to us. it is the employees of other religion arrange Christmas celebration and we reciprocate when they have festivals.
As HRs if one finds Religious intolerance we have the right to council, escalate, even issue a strict verbal warning provided the person is unbearable cause threat to unity. In this development stage sticking to religion and forcing is not acceptable.
Hope i make my views clear just an example When our people go abroad they strictly follow the rules, beliefs and practices of US, OZ, UK, SA, Iran, China but when they travel south to north or north to south in india all these are not applied and complains are raised.. it is a bit serious thought.
Every coin has two side and every issue too
I request you all not to start arguments with Religion, Caste, Creed, South / North indians, nationality as they are sensitive and can be misunderstood
Thanks
Antony Prakash
