Hi Kavita,

I am in need of information regarding the Shops and Establishment Act of 1953. Could you please also clarify if the regulations under this act differ from state to state?

Thank you,
Kavita

Hi friends,

Shilpa's reply is very useful. As per the Shop and Establishment Act, you have to maintain several additional registers and notices, including:

- Deduction from Salary Register
- Fines
- Advances
- Service Register
- Weekly Holiday Notice
- "There is no child Labour" - Notice

Thanks,

Dear Manju,

Please go through Section 14 of the Punjab Shops & Commercial Establishment Act, 1958, as applicable to Haryana State regarding leaves that are payable to the employees of your unit. Similarly, for your Delhi employees, you may go through the Delhi Shop Act.

Dear Roby,

The books and records are different in both Acts. Each Act has its separate entity.
