Seeking Ideas for Diwali Gifts for Our 60 IT Employees – What Would You Suggest?

Deepali Gulati
Hi,

I am working with an IT company that has 60 employees. I am seeking suggestions for good Diwali gifts.

Dry fruit box with beautiful glasses, any crockery set, or else you can try a glass coffee maker bowl. Alternatively, you can consider any showpiece for everyone, such as a painting or a table lamp, etc.

Instead of mithai, you should opt for packed chip boxes or bakery biscuit boxes, etc. Mithai is not really good these days in the market and does not look good in the office as well.

As you have 60 employees in your company, you can give the gifts according to their job position (senior level, middle level, junior level). The gifts can include: cracker set, sweet box, fancy gift articles like photo frames, career-related books, or else we can give some cash voucher so that they can purchase what they want. If we purchase at one place, we can get the cost deduction also. Give us the budget you are planning for this celebration so that we can give more suggestions.
Yaasmin
Hmm, Cash Vouchers are the best idea according to seniority and years of work. Employees will be happy, and they will purchase according to their requirements.

Dear Deepali,

As a Diwali gift, you can give a laptop bag or a wristwatch with a box of sweets. However, please avoid giving an old type of bag. On the other hand, it depends on your company's budget and policy, and what management has decided.

Thanks & Regards,
Pradeep

Hi, you can try something like this too: give a traditional thali which has all puja items of Lakshmi Puja, beautiful diyas, a small cracker box, sweet box, etc. A very innovative way... It should not only reach them but their families too; then it will mean a lot.

Thanks,
Annapurna

Dear Deepali,

Just conduct a survey with your employees, and then you will know what they want from the company as a Diwali gift. If you could please inform us about your budget per employee, then I can provide you with more information.

Dear Deepali,

Greetings and good morning! Books are the best gift for any occasion. You can choose from a wide range of options. Since there are only 60 in number, you can decide on which one suits each person. My friend's daughter was happy when I gifted a book to her when she turned major. All the best!

Cash Voucher is a good idea. I know of an IT company that distributed pen drives to employees on Diwali occasion. So you can go for that; of course, it depends upon the budget, management policy, etc.

Hi Deepali,

A gift voucher or cash coupon is the best idea. You can decide according to the employee's position and designation. If your budget is not high, you can opt for Cadbury Celebrations gifts starting from Rs. 100. Please let us know what you have decided to give.

Cash voucher or a Gift Card from SBI would be the best option. This way, all employees will be happy and can make purchases according to their individual needs.

Hi,

I don't think you should give the cash voucher to my friend. But try to give a mesmerizing gift that should make them feel happy and that should be a memory too.

Please don't ever show the differences between the employees when it has come to a religious festival because there can be Muslims also. Nobody should feel bad at any cost but should feel the unity, and the same feeling between them, dear. In my company, they have given the same shifts, but the quality is good and the same gifts to everyone on one occasion.

Thanks & regards,
Paddu

Hi Deepali,

I am listing out a few things:

1. Cash voucher.
2. Designed valets or handbags.
3. Gift coupons (sweets, dresses, etc.).

Indhu.

Hi Deepali,

First and foremost, get the budget. Then work around it. Age and gender of employees would also play a role in selecting the gift. Gift vouchers are neutral, allowing people to choose what they wish to receive. Good quality mithai, handmade chocolates can always be included. Pen drives, watches, small iPods are other options to consider if the budget permits, as well as bags with a small company logo, wallets, or silver coins.

Think of gifts that can be utilized over time. Review past gifts to see which ones were well-received, providing insight into your employees' preferences.

Best Regards,
Shefali

Dear sir,

First, what is your budget per employee? Then decide about the gift, and from top to bottom, you can provide the same gift.

Hi,

Thank you all for your comments. I am thinking of a dry fruit box or some crockery item with a silver coin featuring our company name. How does that sound?

Hi Deepali,

It is good to know that you are thinking about a Diwali gift!

First and foremost, consider the BUDGET and other factors such as the age group of the employees in your company. Since it is a gift, you can give juniors cash as their salary would be lesser than that of the seniors. For seniors, you can think of some fancy gifts that could be used in meetings.

I hope this advice can help you.

Dear Deepali,

Various options are:
- Gift Cards through some banks (Axis, Corp, etc.)
- Sodexo Vouchers
- Fixed Brand Vouchers like Lifestyle, Timex, American Tourister, or Crompton

Parul

Hi Deepali,

First of all, check the budget.

Second, do not be biased in gifting as this will demotivate the employees. The gift should be the same for everyone.

Options for gifts depend again upon the budget. Since the count of employees is less, negotiating will be tough but not impossible. Go to the market and check what is durable and portable as per your budget. Do not include food items, as Diwali is the festival of lights and sweets. Hence, out of 60 employees, minimum 45 employees would be Hindus and would have sweets prepared or bought for the festival.

During Diwali, there are many exhibitions for corporate gifting in Mumbai, and I hope this will also be followed in Chandigarh. If not, then visit the local market where you will get variety and can decide on it.

Dear Deepali,

By nature, when any function comes, we normally plan to give sweets, coffee cups, or chocolates to relatives or friends. We give crackers or diaries for our clients, and we give cash vouchers, Sodexos, bags, or watches to employees. This is a tradition that most people usually follow.

Being more interested in nature, I would like to suggest why not give a sapling (small plant) to all of them and ask them to plant it in their home or a small tree they can plant in some space on this earth. One day, if you go to their house, they can show you how much it has grown, and this can also help build your relationship with them.

Alternatively, you can have a book made of recycled paper (Neenah paper) with excellent quality containing some articles about health tips or something that spreads awareness about the environment.

Please think about this and let me know if you are interested. My email address is: [Login to view].

It will depend on the budget and the profile of the employees. If they are all bachelors, then think of vouchers that they can use for shopping. I also don't think that you should discriminate according to the position. Household items like a bedsheet set or towels are also attractive options.

I agree with Vikram and Yasmin. Cash voucher is the best idea according to seniority and years of work.

Hi all,

Cash Voucher, gold/silver coins, fancy diyas, and candles or any household items... as per the budget, you can create a combination for your gift pack.

Hi all,

I believe that gifts, whether in the form of cash or memorable items, should be equal for everyone regardless of their positions. While a cash voucher is a good idea, tangible items make the celebration more memorable in the long run.

Dear Deepali,

As per me, you can give some glassware or other show articles. Also, you can give wristwatches with the company emblem on the dial. Whenever you are giving the above articles, you should give them with a sweet box.

TM

As you have limited employees in your company, you can give the gifts according to their job position (senior level, middle level, junior level).

The gifts can include: cracker set, dry food box, fancy gift articles, or else we can give some cash voucher also so that they can purchase what they want. If we purchase any of the items from one place, we can get the cost deduction as well.

If the budget is available, it would be better to plan this celebration judiciously and provide more suggestions.
chada.sirisha
Hi,

Since you said it's a small company, you can plan your budget accordingly. This might be a good brand-building exercise as well.

1. Company logo t-shirt
2. Pack containing 2 small diyas and incense dhoop sticks
3. Small pack of homemade chocolates (healthy and tasty) that would serve as Diwali sweets.

These items would not cost you much per employee, and they would also feel elated receiving them on a special occasion like this. Hopefully, this will work as a retention and loyalty strategy too. All the best.

Hi Deepali,

I fail to understand the level of employees you are talking about. In general, you can always go for mobile phones. They come in a varying range, so you can choose the lower-range handsets for middle or lower-level employees as per your budget.

Daksha

Instead of cash or self-development books, I suggest you gift them anything (based on your budget) that they can share with the family. The employee would feel proud to show it to their family, where their family would also remember the company and the gift every time they use it. Indirectly, the family members also get bonded to the organization.
anjalisumit
Dear Deepali,

You can give out Tupperware lunch kits as they are useful, and employees will carry them along every time they come to the office. They'll remember this gesture forever, and the cost is also not much.

Give them tickets to a newly released movie. The whole family will enjoy it and it will also provide good publicity mileage for the company.

These days, the spices are all contaminated and stale, made from inferior or substitute material. They don't have any aroma or taste and mostly consist of cheap filler material.

It would be a novel idea to give your employees a unique hand grinder/squeezer that grinds fresh dry spices at the moment of use. It costs around Rs. 250. Additionally, you can provide them with whole spices to accompany it. This way, one can grind directly into the dish.

Hello All,

As Diwali is nearing, we are all set to prepare for the same. To start with, I need suggestions from all of you for Diwali Gifts! We have 300 employees, and our budget per head is up to Rs. 3000 to Rs. 4000. We have already distributed gifts like laptop bags, cash vouchers, iPods, etc. Need some new ideas!!!

I invite all of you to suggest Diwali Gift Ideas!!!

Regards,
HR.

My suggestion would be to use the money to buy gifts for underprivileged children or orphans. Ensure that the staff are informed of the date and time when you would be visiting these children to hand over the gifts. Include their families too - this will ensure two things: (a) Bonding of staff at the get-together and (b) the goodwill that is generated by this gesture will improve morale in the staff as well as their families. Please consider!

Hi Friends,

Instead of gifts, I suggest a one-day outing for 60 team members. This idea can help address any budget concerns while enhancing team spirit.

As a Deepawali gift, you can give gold coins for senior and middle levels and silver coins for junior level. Gold and silver coins are available at MMTC in different weight ranges with attractive gift wrap.
suman.city.hr
As you have 60 employees in your company, just divide them into seniority levels, e.g., senior, middle, and junior. Then make a budget and decide what gifts to give them, such as a sweet box, dry fruit box, silver coin, glass sets, crockery set, etc. You can also add your company shield with best wishes for your employees. This is a memory for a lifetime for your employees and is also less expensive.

SBI/MMTC Gold Gift coins (ranging from one gram to ten grams or more) in small gift packets will be highly appreciated by the employees.

Any gift that can be customized with the company logo, name, such as a wristwatch, a wall clock, etc., can be a great option. Taking the employees' word is a feel-good factor for them, and they usually come up with implementable suggestions. The budget plays a significant role in decision-making.

Provide new helmets for employees. It would make employees feel prestigious and, obviously, it's a life-saving effort.

I am working with an IT company, so I have developers here who love to have small but quality gifts. I have some options in mind; please suggest:

1. Wrist Watch
2. 18-piece microwave and refrigerator safe dinner set
3. Bed Sheet

Please give your opinion.
