Can Employees Opt Out of EPF? Understanding the Rules and Limitations for Low Salaries

prasadsrinu
Dear Members,

Can you please share with me the limitations for EPF? An employee does not want to be covered under EPF, who is receiving a consolidated salary of Rs. 4500 per month and has been working for more than six months in a single organization. The employer is forcing him to be covered under the EPF scheme.

Are there any EPF rules that allow an employee to voluntarily withdraw themselves from the scheme? If so, what are the limitations and the complete procedure?

Dear,

If someone's basic salary is $6500 or less at the time of joining, he has to become a member of EPF from day one. Even if his salary goes beyond $6500 after joining the fund, he has to remain a member of EPF.

Regarding EPF

Dear Members, In our company, we have some staff/workers receiving a CONSOLIDATED SALARY of more than ₹6500/-. We have not deducted EPF for those employees; we only deduct ESI. Is this correct? Please clarify.
