Resignation or Termination - Kindly Clarify

Dear All, One of my friends was called in by the senior management and told that they did not wish him to continue and that he should submit a resignation letter. While applying for new jobs, should he talk about this as termination/firing, resignation, or leaving by mutual agreement? He is very worried about this and knows that any lies he may tell could be detrimental in the future.

Please do help by providing clarifications.

Thanks and Regards,
Mitra

As you mentioned in your post "he should give the resignation letter," the company had not terminated him; he had submitted the resignation, whatever the reason may be. Please ask your friend to find out the reasons as to why he was asked to do so, which will help him for future development.

Dear Mitra, As per your statement and your query, I would like to tell you something. Your friend has been asked to submit his resignation by the management. Therefore, it is clear that the management does not intend to terminate him from the services as this could hinder your friend's future career prospects. Keeping this in mind, the management has requested your friend to resign.

Now, your friend can explain in his future interviews that he is changing jobs for future growth and better prospects. Advise him not to mention that he was asked to resign as it may be perceived as termination.

Since your friend will be leaving the job after resignation, his experience certificate will reflect the same. He should never mention that he was asked to resign. Please let me know if you need any further assistance or clarification.
