Tally is an accounting software primarily used by the finance department to enter a company or firm's day-to-day transactions. It helps determine accurate balances of liabilities, assets, cash, and bank balances. It is also mandatory for companies to maintain books of records such as Cash, Bank, and General Ledgers as per the IT Act and Companies Act. Companies can take a printout of these books through Tally whenever needed.

In the new Tally ERP 9.0 version, they introduced a Payroll module for calculating employees' payouts. To my knowledge, it is not as successful as their regular accounting module. I believe they may expand this module in their upcoming versions. If they succeed, HR professionals can use Tally software to some extent.
