@mohitahuja,

You are pursuing a PhD in HR, yet you don't know the reason for undertaking the PhD? Amazing! Shouldn't a PhD student be aware of the topic for their research?

This is another classical example highlighting the flaws in our education system. It appears to be nothing more than a hogwash.

Hard to comment and prejudge that everyone is in Phase I, but most of them in the learning curve want to join a rat race for sure and win to still be a rat at the end of the race. But actually, you really cannot blame them for sure because in our country, the system works like that only. And yes, in our country, through right contacts, degrees are still available for sale till date!

I have seen useless HR directors and managers with MBA degrees without an iota of what human resources or psyche means! Moreover, company management is not bothered about their performance as they are preoccupied with their own things! And when the Wall Street collapses, recession is blamed! Why do companies pay giant size salaries to these so-called experts if, at the end of the day, they cannot ensure minimum safety to the company with all their big degrees? Why not a company save money by hiring better people instead of better degrees? This could go on and on so I better stop it here.

Hi Mohit,

When choosing a subject, it may be a good idea to speak with HR in your company or companies that you look up to. They would be able to advise you on the trends and developments in HR, which would be in the area or industry of your interest.

Hi Mohit!

You can do your PhD on OD interventions if you are interested in human resource development.

Dear Mohit,

You can even opt for Organizational Psychology for a Ph.D. It will not only help you in understanding the people with whom you interact on a day-to-day basis but also provide you with a clear roadmap for formulating new policies in your company. After all, HR is all about dealing with people.

Good comments by muhurth and 28677c5420521383353edc6e6. I appreciate such frank comments. Mohit, you should have done your groundwork properly. Do you want to pursue a Ph.D. or DBA or Professional Doctorate? Your statement is so vague; it sounds like a 10th standard student who is in a dilemma whether to choose science, arts, or commerce in their +2.

It's not easy to do a Ph.D. First, understand what it means, and secondly, do you have a shortlisted university that will approve your application? Then, do you have a guide? Probably, if you have answered these questions, then I might be able to suggest something informative.

Hi Mohit,

You can do your Ph.D. on the following topics:

1. HR practices in education institutions
2. Stress management through yoga therapy in the corporate sector
3. Grooming global leaders

Hi Mohit,

Nice to hear that you have decided to pursue a Ph.D. You first need to select your area of interest, go through the review of existing literature in that area, new research findings, and new research questions left unanswered. Every researcher needs to have his or her unique research problem and way of looking... anyway. Good luck and wish you all the best.

Dear Roshan,

Please tell me the list of universities offering PhD options as I don't think any university except the University of Kota in Rajasthan has this option.

My sister wants to pursue a PhD and has chosen the topic of organization development, but she doesn't know where to find a guide. Please provide guidance if you have any information.

Thank you,
Sheena

There's no harm in someone requesting help. Dude just wants to let you know, FIRST SELECT THE TOPIC which excites you (can be Orgn. Psychology, Orgn. Dev, etc.). Then find out the university, get a guide...

If you want to pursue a Ph.D. and are willing to put in hard work, you can choose the topic "HR System in Management." It covers the entire HR field.

Hello, what do you think about "Employee Turnover" in companies? It can be an interesting subject for a Ph.D. Some interesting cases can be taken as examples, and based on those, you can conduct a study that provides different perspectives.
