The date on which an employee submits his/her formal resignation is the 'Date of Resignation'.

After the submission of resignation, the employee remains in the services of the organization until he is formally relieved. The last date of working in an organization will be the 'Leaving Date' or 'Relieving Date', which will be mentioned in the service certificate.

Date of resignation generally specifies the day when you have submitted your resignation letter. However, after submitting your letter, you have to serve a notice period (mandatory in most cases). On completion of your notice period, the last working day is considered as your date of leaving.
