Can an Employee with a Basic Salary Below Rs. 6550 Opt Out of PF Contributions?

rajib.dutta
If the employee's basic is less than Rs. 6550/- and he is not willing to contribute to PF deduction, can we exempt him from PF contribution?

Dear Rajib,

Employees drawing a basic salary up to Rs 6500/- are required to contribute to the Provident Fund, while employees earning above Rs 6501/- have the option to become a member of the Provident Fund.

Could you please confirm his exact salary?
