Navigating Maternity Leave: How Much Time Off and Benefits Can My Wife Expect?

pankajgugu
Hi to all, can anybody suggest or answer the following queries:

1. For a woman, how many maternity leaves are there?

2. After the leave, how long can she (my wife) avail of without pay?

3. As she is working in Ahmedabad (will come back to Delhi on holiday during leave), can she claim her telephone bill and other facilities during the holiday?

Thanks.

Dear,

First, examine which of the Acts, Civil Service Rules, Maternity Benefit Policy, or Rules of the unit is applicable in your case.

First, confirm in which type of organization your wife is working. Generally, in a Limited company, HR policies are as follows:

1. 3 months of maternity leave available with pay.
2. After that, if required, an additional 3 months of leave is available without pay (by the consent of both employer and employee).
3. Mobile reimbursement depends on company HR policies.

Please confirm first after how many days your wife's company starts to give maternity leave because it varies from company to company.

I hope this is clear to you.

According to the Maternity Benefit Act, a woman can avail of 12 weeks of leave, with 6 weeks before the expected date of delivery and 6 weeks after delivery. However, it is not necessary for a woman to take leave 6 weeks before the expected date of delivery. It depends on her condition, but it should not be earlier than 6 weeks before the expected date of delivery.

Regarding your queries no. 2 & 3, it depends on the individual company policy.

I hope this clarifies your doubts.
