Important Update: How the Employee Compensation Act, 1923 Affects Your Workplace

Please find attached the Amendment Act, 45 of 2009, whereby the Workmen's Compensation Act, 1923, is amended and renamed as the Employee Compensation Act, 1923. It is made applicable to all employees working in an Industry/Establishment. I hope the same would be helpful to you.

Good to see that the lawmakers have finally picked up this Act for amendment. They should have considered it long back because the ESI still has limited geographical coverage.

Whether the above is published by the Government of India, and whether the bill is passed by Parliament? If so, please provide the notification from the Government of India.

Has the act been notified in the official gazette? Without notification, it cannot be implemented.
