The following options are available apart from the one mentioned here:
1. If the employee has not completed one full calendar year in service, then in the last year, if he was present for 2/3rds of his time, he is eligible, and the calculation remains the same as mentioned above.
2. The worker should inform the management about his intention to proceed on leave 30 days earlier in the case of public utility or 15 days in others.
3. Sick leave on account of urgent sickness can be converted to leave with pay after returning to work.
4. Long leave of more than 4 days should not be taken more than 3 times.
5. Accumulation of leave is allowed for 30 days for an adult and 45 for a child. If leave is applied as per the rules but not granted by management, it can be carried forward without any limit.
6. Accumulation in leave balance cannot be used for the notice period.
In the interest of work, it is advisable to form a leave policy by the works committee which allows workers to take regular leaves without disturbing the work schedule. However, the provision of such a policy must offer better benefits than those mentioned in Section 79 of the Factories Act.
