Can We Allow Women to Work Night Shifts? Understanding Guidelines and Requirements

Hi All,

We are a financial services company, and no women staff work beyond 8 P.M. in our organization. Can we allow women staff to work beyond 8 P.M.? Is there a minimum number of women staff required to work in the night shifts? Please let me know if there are any specific guidelines that we need to follow to allow women staff to work in night shifts.

Dear Ajeet,

You have to go through your applicable State Shops & Establishment Act for taking exemption for women employees working the night shift from the competent authority.
