Understanding Factory Leaves: How Does the Factories Act Define CL, SL, and EL?

venkatk
Dear All,

I want to know about the leaves in factories as per the Factories Act (i.e., CL, SL, EL).

There is no provision for CL & SL in the Factories Act. However, there should be 01 PL/EL for every 20 worked days (Physically Present Day. A half day will be deemed as 01 day for the computation of Physical Present Days).

Dear Venkat,

Please go through Chapter VIII on leave with wages under the Factories Act, 1948 and be informed that CL and SL are provided under the State Industrial Establishment (National and Festival Holidays and Casual and Sick Leaves) Act.

Dear Venkat,

As indicated by Mr. Prashant, there is no provision for CL & SL in both the Shop and Establishment as well as Factories. There is only an earned leave concept.

Dear Selvakumar,

Your statement cannot be considered correct as the Punjab Shops & Commercial Establishment Act, 1958, applicable to Punjab, UT Chandigarh, & Haryana, has provisions for the grant of Casual & Sick leaves.
