How Can I Revise Wage Structure Under the Factories Act to Benefit Long-term Employees?

Dear All,

I am Rao, and I have joined a new organization 10 days ago. I would like to request a revision of the minimum rates of wages as per the Factories Act. This would be a useful benefit for all employees who have been working for a long time. Kindly advise me on how to restructure the salary, i.e., % basic, % DA, % HRA, % Conv, and % other allowances.

There is no fixed structure; the company does fix the same as its own standard and culture. Keep in mind that Basic Wages should be nearly to Minimum Wages.

Mr. Khola is absolutely right. Minimum wages do not have any relation with the Factories Act, so do not mix these two acts.

Hi,

It is true that the Factories Act does not cover provisions under Minimum Wages, but the Inspector of Factories are the authorized officials under the MW Act as well. Hence, during inspection, they may ask us to produce relevant records in respect of the MW Act. The basic and statutory structure of Minimum Wages covers only the Basic and the DA, while the former is revised based on negotiations with the stipulated committee, the latter is revised every year based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) with notifications to these effects being released by respective state Governments periodically.
