ESI Wage Limit Update: Has It Really Increased from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 15,000?

Could someone please update me about the new wage limit for ESI? I have received information that it has been revised from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 15,000.

ESI Maximum wage limit, whether revised or not, is presently Rs. 10,000/-. Can anybody confirm the status.

It is proposed to be revised from Rs. 10,000/- to Rs. 15,000/-. The notification has appeared in the gazette; however, it will become an Act only after it is passed in parliament. Till such time, the coverage limit remains the same, i.e., Rs. 10,000/- only. - Praful Joshi

The ESI ceiling has been changed from 10000 to 15000. It will be effective from the 1st of May 2010.

The notification attached by you relates to the declaration of minimum rates of wages for different employments. Please find attached herewith the relevant notification for the information of the members.

My question is related to the ESI Coverage. Now, as per the new notification, the ESI coverage is changed from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 15,000. If an employee is covered by a corporate medical policy, is it required for the employee to also be covered under ESI?

Where this Act is applicable, the appropriate government is empowered to grant exemption under Section 88 of the ESI Act, 1948. Therefore, apply to the government for this exemption. For more details, you can also approach your local ESI Office.

Has the $15,000 coverage been implemented or not? If yes, then from when? Why haven't the changes been made officially on the ESI website?
