Considering an Advanced HR Certificate at Welingkar? Seeking Your Advice on Its Value

Roshni R
Hello Members,

I am planning to do my Advanced Certificate Course in Human Resource from Welingkar. The duration of the course is 6 months. The course covers the following topics:

1. Principles of Management
2. Marketing Management
3. Business Communication
4. Effective HR Training & Development Strategy
5. Industrial Relations & Labour Law

I would appreciate any suggestions you may have.

Hey Roshini,

You haven't mentioned what your experience in HR is. So, it would be a bit difficult to comment. However, here is my suggestion in general. I have always been very critical of the curriculum some of our institutes have in India, which is theory-based. So, I would suggest absolutely NO for the course. Rather, do some HR Certification course. Here are some helpful suggestions for you:

1. [Strategic Human Resources Management | SHRM India](http://www.shrmindia.org/) - Check out their HR Next Course.
2. [Carlton Advanced Management Institute - Contact Us](http://carltonglobal.com#cp) - Check out the Indian contact person.

All the best,
UKmitra

Hi Roshini,

Please consider enrolling in a regular course from a reputable institute instead of opting for correspondence education. If you are pursuing it solely for a certification, then you can proceed with that.

Thanks for your comments. But I am looking for a course that is affordable and of shorter duration. My total experience in HR is 4 years.

Educational Qualification: M.Com

Designation: Executive HRD

Due to the non-professional course in HRD, I am unable to secure a good job in the HR Department with a good salary. Therefore, I am seeking a short, affordable course that can enhance my resume and help me land a better package.

My key skills include payroll, recruitment, induction, performance management, and welfare activities.

If you have any suggestions, please let me know.

Hi,

Instead of the certificate program, I suggest looking into the one-year diploma in HR which offers better subjects. I am also considering pursuing the same diploma.

Thank you.

I have taken the details from Welingkar only. Please confirm, is the Advanced Certificate course valid and credible?

Hi Roshini,

My advice is that instead of studying that course directly, you learn from your company and specialize in the field to start your career. Don't waste time and money on unnecessary things now; think about certification for that selected field later.

Dear Roshni,

An MBA in HR is highly valued in today's market. Regular programs are given weightage, but Executive programs and certificate programs are also considered if you have good practical HR experience. Weilenkars is a reputed institute, so there should be no problems. If it fits your budget, go ahead.

However, certain key skills are in demand in HR such as Compensation Planning and Design, Writing JD KRA and KPI, and Benefits Planning. These are essential skills apart from what you are currently doing. Therefore, I suggest that the SHRM India HR Next course would be the best fit for you. It may be a bit more expensive, but it is more practical. Trust me, you will benefit from it and also have better job prospects if you pursue certifications like CCP, CBP, GRP, HRM, or HRM certification.

I hope this is helpful.

Regards,
ukmitra

Dear Roshni,

You have joined the PGD in IRPM Evening course. Additionally, you can also pursue LLB for a better career.

I also did an MBA full-time. I inquired about further courses and found two options: one is SAP HR, and the second is Six Sigma.

Hello everybody,

I have completed my B.Tech (I.T.) and am looking forward to joining MBA (HR) by July 2010 from some reputed institution. Please suggest to me what additional steps I should take to have an edge over others during campus placements. I mean, what additional certification courses or diplomas I can pursue before or during my MBA (HR) program. Please also mention the names of institutions that offer these certification courses or diplomas so that I can start as soon as possible. Please do provide some suggestions.

Thanks to all.

My name is Mahi. I would like to pursue an Advanced Diploma in HR, mainly focusing on payroll. Kindly suggest institutes in New Delhi that offer this course. I am very interested in taking a Payroll course. I am eagerly waiting for your suggestions at your earliest convenience.

Thank you.

From which institute are you doing the course? How much does it cost? I too would like to join the course. Is it possible to join now and take the exams in May 2011?

Dear Ma'am,

Thank you. Actually, I have an MBA in Marketing and Finance. However, I have always been interested in transitioning to the Human Resources Department. Due to not having taken any courses in HR, I have not been able to secure opportunities in this field. Could you kindly guide me on how I can enter the HR Department, what kind of courses I should pursue to enhance my prospects in HR, and from which institute in New Delhi? Your prompt guidance is greatly appreciated.

I am considering whether a payroll certificate course would be beneficial for entering HR, or if pursuing a Generalist Course would be more advantageous. Ma'am, where do the opportunities lie, and how can I seize them? Your suggestions would be invaluable.

Kindly advise me on the best course of action.

Thank you.

Hi, I am working as an Officer in the HR & Admin Department. A year ago, I was responsible for statutory compliance, labor licenses, EPF, ESI, and staff welfare, but now I am solely focused on office administration. I have completed a 2-year PGDBA in HR from Symbiosis Center for Distance Learning. Now, I aim to transition into a pure HR role.

I would appreciate it if you could suggest any additional qualifications that could help me secure a pure HR profile and advance my career. If so, kindly provide information on the course name and institute as well. I am currently residing in Delhi.

Regards.

Hi all, please help me out. I have completed my PGDBM in HR (a 2-year full-time course) and have a total of 3.4 years of experience in recruitment. However, I am now looking to transition into the field of HR operations/HR generalist roles. Could someone provide guidance on certification courses available in HR generalist areas?

I would appreciate it if you could specify the names of reputable institutes in Bangalore that offer such certifications.

Regards,
Rubi Anand
