Choosing the Right Insurance for Contract Labour: GPA, Workmen's Compensation, or Both?

vanijayendran
Dear Sirs,

For contract labour, we want to take insurance blanket cover. Is it better to cover them in GPA, under the Workmen's Compensation Act, or both?

With regards,
Vani

Dear Vani,

If the Contract Labour is not covered under the ESI Act, 1948, then it will be better to take WC Policy from any of the insurance company.

Dear Mr. Khola,

If ESIC is not applicable in that particular area, we have to apply for a WC policy from any insurance company. Please clarify what the procedure is. I agree that if ESIC is not covered, then WC is applicable.

Dear Ramnath,

I do not have the knowledge on the procedural aspect and therefore I would like to suggest you to contact any of the nearest insurance offices such as Oriental Insurance Company, etc.
