Struggling to Measure Soft Skills Training Impact in a Busy Workplace – Any Advice?

sekark_7711
Dear Friends,

I am a soft skills training faculty in a reputed healthcare organization with a staff strength of 1470 employees. I conduct soft skills training sessions on various topics such as motivation, stress management, team building, emotional intelligence, time management, communication, and etiquette for employees.

Currently, I am facing a challenge in evaluating the effectiveness of my training program. How can I assess its impact? Should I consider conducting surveys? We operate with 46 shifts in our workplace, so how can I effectively measure the training outcomes?

Seniors, I would appreciate any suggestions you can provide.

Regards,
Sekar K

Dear Sekar K,

You should have considered measuring the effectiveness of the training before conducting it, rather than after. Anyway, now create a questionnaire based on the objectives of the training programs. Send the questionnaire to the managers of the participants and gather their feedback. If you had sent this questionnaire before and after the training, you could have measured the change in their behavior.

Ok...

Thank you, Divakar. Pre-evaluation and post-evaluation feedback about the session and all I have collected for these sessions. However, my management wants to know about the overall outcome of the training program from Dec '2008 to Oct '2009.

Thank you for your reply once again, Divekar.

I have received the necessary details to evaluate the effectiveness of my staff training. Basically, the motto of the training program is to improve work quality without defects, as my industry is healthcare. We select sample individuals for each category, approximately 30-35 persons per batch, for a period of 60 days. We conduct pre-evaluation and post-evaluation tests, gather feedback, seek opinions from superiors, observe work performance, and more.

In the end, we have observed significant improvements in communication and behavioral etiquette compared to the pre-assessment. We are pleased with the results of the study.

Thanks and regards,
Sekar K
