Hi,

I am a Ph.D. in OD. You may want to explore emerging areas such as HRIS, HR audit, HR scorecard, or change management, or delve into new concepts in HR such as managing off-site employees, etc.

All the best,

Hi,

There are various topics to conduct research or pursue a Ph.D., such as strategic management, performance appraisal, organizational development (OD), HRIS, and manpower planning. However, you have to do it regularly as per UGC rules.

I hope this information can give you some ideas.

You can go for a Ph.D. in HR from AIMa, IMSR, XLRI, IIM, ISB, Annamalai, and other state universities. It's a good option, but it is a 4-5 year course. You have to prepare a thesis, but before applying, you have to provide a research synopsis of 5 pages. You can also apply abroad for a Ph.D. as it is beneficial.

Dear All, I have completed an MBA (PGDBM) in HR & Biotech and I am currently working as an HR executive in a manufacturing company. I am also considering pursuing a PhD. However, I am unsure whether now is the right time to embark on a PhD journey or if I should first acquire more experience in the field, perhaps for another 2 to 3 years, before pursuing a doctorate.

Guidance on Applying for a PhD

I would appreciate guidance on the general process of applying to a university for a PhD. Additionally, I am curious to know if a PGDBM degree is considered a postgraduate qualification that would fulfill the requirements for a PhD program at a prestigious university.

Thank you for your assistance.

Best regards,
Purnima

Sir,

I have completed PGDBA (HR) from Symbiosis, Pune (SCDL) with 11 years of working experience in the IT education sector. Please suggest where I can pursue a PhD in HR with a stipend or through distance learning. Is a distance PhD valuable? Can you provide some insights into the cost, criteria, etc., for a PhD program?

Thank you.

I have recently finished my MBA, and I want to do a Ph.D. in HR. As my topic, can you please suggest to me which universities offer programs in this field and what the process is for joining?

Dear Mr. Sarkar,

Is the Ph.D. offering a regular course, or can one do it while working a job?

Dear Sir, I have been working in the IT education sector for the past 11 years. I have completed my PGDBA (HR) with first-class distinction from Symbiosis.

Ph.D. in HR or Management

Could you please suggest where I can pursue a Ph.D. in HR or Management? If it is a full-time program, I would have to leave my current job, which is my sole source of income. Are there any programs that offer stipends, or perhaps through distance learning? Please help me.

Thanks and regards,

I have been working as an HR professional since April 2007. My qualification is MBA (HR), and now I am interested in pursuing a Ph.D. in HR. I would like to know how to proceed with this and what courses are offered by ICFAI. Currently, I am located in Mumbai. Please guide me on this matter. I am eagerly awaiting a valuable reply from your side.

Thank you,
Aarti

Hi All, If anyone is interested in pursuing a Ph.D. in HR, ICFAI is offering a good opportunity. I am not an executive of ICFAI; instead, I am a Senior HR Manager working in a reputed company.

Hi All, There are two ways of completing a PhD. One is part-time (where you will be completing it while working full-time), and another way is to do it full-time over a span of 4 years, which is offered by many institutions like IBS, etc. IBS Hyderabad is offering a course where you will study for 4 years and, at the end, be entitled to receive your PhD degree. For this, one has to be selected in the entrance test conducted by ICFAI - IBSAT, held every December.

Now, people who opt to pursue their PhD under a guide while working full-time need to work with a distinguished guide. The role of a guide (who can be a professor/lecturer) is to provide an overview of the topic and help with all matters related to your PhD.

As one of my Cite HR friends mentioned, there are many topics to choose from, but it's advisable to select a topic relevant in the present scenario. Sometimes, the distinguished guide will assist in this matter, while most of the time, he/she will suggest options, as a PhD candidate should be comfortable with the chosen topic.

Conducting a good amount of research is necessary to select a topic. My suggestion would be to choose at least 3 topics, present them to your guide, and then he will be in a better position to advise on which one is more useful in the current scenario.

Please let me know if any of my CiteHR friends need further assistance on this matter. I will do my best to provide input to the best of my ability.

With Regards, Sarkar

Mr. Sarkar,

Can you please do me a favor and kindly suggest how to get all the information? Is it a full-time course?
