People choose HR because it deals directly with the employees. HR stands for Human Resources, and the various activities related to it are:
1) Recruitment & Selection
2) Training & Development
3) Performance Appraisal
4) Industrial Relations
5) Administration
6) Formulation of Policies
7) Hiring & Firing
8) Manpower Planning
9) Payroll & Attendance
10) Organization Development
There are more activities, but these are some core activities that I have listed out.
HR not only entails handling Recruitment, Training, PMS, etc., but it also involves dealing with IR (Industrial Relations), which many fresh MBAs are hesitant to enter.
One can say that HR is the soul of an organization since it formulates policies, brings the best individuals into the company, and motivates them to perform.
