Dear all,

Please let me know if this is a genuine salary slip. If it is not, could you please indicate the points based on which one can determine its authenticity?

Thank you.

Hi,

This is not a genuine salary slip because the number of present days is not mentioned to calculate the earnings. It's fake.

Totally fake...as Kiranair said, present days and total days in a month should be mentioned on salary slips along with the company logo, PF number, employee code, etc.

Appears to be fake; some important points:

1. As mentioned by others, attendance details are missing.
2. Employee number has not been mentioned.
3. Loan deduction is exceptionally high at 75% of basic pay.
4. It is normal to mention designation, and even department, on the pay-slip.
5. Reputed companies normally use logos on pay-slips.

That's my thinking :-)

Dear Mosi,

All our friends have provided more details on the payslip. The payslip should include the full details of your salary, such as employee code, A/c No, Pf no, number of days worked, designation, Esi no, company group, and location.

Thank you.

Hi,
Don't mind, people. All are giving suggestions. But have we confirmed that the guy asking the question is an HR, or is he the only one who has made the slip?

suresh.kovvuri
Hi Mosi,

I hope you have closed this case as a FALSE salary slip. As our team mentioned, it is a 100% FAKE salary slip. I hope you are aware that the company in question is registered under "Japan Air Lines Co. LTD.," as indicated in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs website (WWW.MCA.gov.in) link: http://www.mca.gov.in/DCAPortalWeb/dca/CompanyNameSRAction.do. However, on the salary slip, it is stated as 'Japan Air Lines International Co. Ltd.' This inconsistency allows us to take action against this individual.

Best Regards,
Suresh Kovvuri.

Dear Mosi,

Certain companies do not have the practice of giving salary slips. Just because employees demand, they have no choice but to issue a salary slip that is created with no basic knowledge of salary structuring. I believe their concept is - as long as you get the salary, why worry about the salary slip.

So, try talking to the HR department and let them know that the structuring looks different. If they are people with no knowledge of salary structuring, you will get to know it by the way they handle the issue.

Also, if this is a salary slip submitted by a candidate during an interview - please call the HR and confirm the salary details. You may want to make a call and say that you are from a bank and wanted to confirm the salary details - and take the conversation forward. I have tried this - it worked :-) and found out when someone faked their salary slip while attending an interview.

Thanks,
A T Raja
A lot of information is missing! Ask them to provide everything! Loan Deduction? What is the installment number? What is the balance on the loan?

The easiest and simplest way to verify is to check with the company - just like how we do reference checks, you should also conduct a salary check. I recall a case where an employee who was receiving a package of Rs. 4 lakhs provided fake documents showing 11 lakhs! Therefore, it is crucial to verify with the airline company.

Asha has made a very valid point. As a person handling contract labor, including technical workers at Hindustan Petroleum, I have come across many types of salary slips. This particular one is quite common. You can see that the net salary of the person is only Rs 6000 something. This type of salary slip is often provided by many small companies. One example is Hindustan Dorr Oliver. Their permanent employees also receive this kind of salary slip.

As Mosi said, please check before giving your suggestions that the person who wants to verify is from HR. Otherwise, we might be helping a person to create an undoubtful fake salary slip... What say?

Hi,

It seems that it is totally a fake payslip because there are very significant and essential things which are missing. They are Employee ID No., Designation, P.F No., P.T deductions. So, now you can take necessary action against him.

It's totally fake as the number of days is not mentioned. Loan deduction is stated as 15,000, whereas it has not been deducted. After the deduction of TDS and PF, it should amount to Rs. 21,125.
pvganesh9
This payslip doesn't even carry the full address and contact number of the employer. It's very bad.

Hi,

It's fake. You don't find the following:
- PF NO
- Emp Id
- LOGO
- No of days attended
- No other break ups other than basic and HRA
- PT missing
- If TDS has been deducted.

Shubha

May be genuine, you cannot come to a conclusion by seeing this slip. I used to get a similar salary slip when I was working for my earlier company.

Difficult arriving at a conclusion, please call the company HR and send them this slip to verify.

I think it's fake. (But the LOGO of the Company looks real) because this Salary Slip does not carry the following points:

1) Designation of the Employee
2) Employee ID
3) Location
4) Number of days Present
5) Leave availed during the month
6) PF No. (compulsory in this case because the Salary Slip shows that the company is deducting the PF from the Salary.)
7) ESIC No. (Optional)
8) Bank Account Number where Salary is Credited.

AND Find the format of the salary slip something that looks like this.

There is no Labour welfare fund mentioned because this is a mandatory deduction for Delhi state.
hemantarchna
It may be fake because:
  1. it requires the signature of the issuing officer.
  2. it has not contain the no of days of working in the month for which this salary slip has been issued i.e. January 2008.
  3. It has to be on the letter head of the co. i.e. JAPAN AIRLINES INTERNATIONAL CO. LIMITED.
  4. It has to be issued with diary or dispatcher reference no.
  5. It has to be contained with the designation of Mr. Neeraj Sharma or the title under which Mr. Neeraj Sharma is working in that Co.
  6. We have checked that the japan airlines's actual name is JAPAN AIRLINES CORPORATION and it website is JAL|q‹σŒ” —\–ρE‹σΘΖ‰οE‰^'ΐˆΔ“ΰ| so find out the real name of the company, if it is subsidary then please make sure that the salary slip should contains the address of its registered office and administration office and office in india and also should be contain the contact no. of india on which it can be verified.
  7. please verify this slip from the company office.
i hope that your query has been fulfilled and have a nice day

Dear Mosi,

This could be a payslip of a person who is working on a contingent basis, not of a regular employee.

Secondly, I feel this is a fake salary slip as the slip doesn't have basic things like Days worked, PF No, and employee number, which are all mandatory for the internal audit of every limited company.

Thirdly, if you observe the company seal, the November one is darker, December is a little lighter, and January is much lighter.

Fourth, the loan amount being deducted does not match the actual salary.

There is a need to probe the person in detail for further clarification.

Thanks,

I completely agree with Ash Mathew. The responses posted seem to be based on what the individual's organization is following or what is perceived common practice. There are many organizations that are small in size with few employees that do not bother to issue payslips. They issue payslips based on the needs of employees, so instead of just guessing, it is better to check the company name, call the company directly, and talk to them. This will establish the genuineness more reliably.
Vasant Nair
Very simple. Just write to the HR Department of Japan Airlines and send them a copy of this Salary Slip. Their response will give you an answer.

By merely looking at the attached slip, one cannot conclusively decide upon its authenticity. You never know, it may be a valid one.

Cheers!!! Vasant Nair

Dear all,

I have a question: if this is a fake slip, what legal action can be taken regarding this?

Regards,
Sunil Sharma
nagendra verma
One basic thing is not followed in this payslip. I am unsure whether it is correct, but LWF was not deducted in the month of December.
Vasant Nair
The best way to ascertain the genuineness of the Salary Slip is to get the same verified by the previous employer who is supposed to have issued it to the concerned employee.

If your suspicions of the Slip being a fake one are confirmed, confront the employee and inform him that you would be willing to accept his resignation with immediate effect and release him promptly. If he disagrees, you are well within your rights to terminate his services immediately. Clearly state in the letter the act of forgery committed by him.

Best Wishes,

Vasant Nair

The salary slip is not at all genuine because the deductions are not correct, and the HRA given is just 40% of the basics; it should be 50% of the basics in metro cities.
