Extension Of Probation Period

Dear All,
Hi! Please let me know maximum for how much period we can extend the probation period of an employee.

i beleive the min probation period is 3 months. the employer may ext it by once for another three months with a valid reason. but in case th empr is extg for penny reasons then it wont stand good in the court of law( just in case u con to kep empe on probation for long without reasoning & reporting)

I agree with Mr. Kumar about 240 working days in a year is a maximum period for probation period and generally organisation appoint an employee for six months which can extend 3 months & can further extends for another 3 months if performance level not achieved as per organisation policies.

Probation is something company specific. You can consult with your legal advisor to devise a probation plan for all candidates joining your company and they can be placed on a extended probation, again extended probation period can be arrived with the help of legal consultant.

1. Probation period is fixed by Standing Orders for workmen
2.Probation period is fixed by Company through Appointment letter.
you tell me for which cader you want to do this?
pl explain above two then it is desirable to give you answer.
