How Can I Effectively Evaluate Employee Growth After a Personality Development Workshop?

Hi All,

I'm new to this forum but have really gained tremendous experience from issues and queries related to Human Resources. I am working for an MNC as an HR professional in a manufacturing company. I have a desire to develop the best HR practices in this organization.

Recently, the leadership conducted a workshop on 'Personality Development' for which I have to assess and evaluate employees to determine the extent of improvement that has taken place. I understand that this is not a one-day job, but to proceed in the right direction, I need help. I would appreciate any suggestions that could assist me in this regard. Please help.

It would help if you had pre-workshop measurement of persons' performance. In the absence of that, you can only ask those that attended how useful it was for their present and future work. You could also ask their superiors whether they have found any change in the performance, attitude, etc., of those that attended the course. However, bear in mind that the changes may not be noticed in the short term.

Please search the web to find out how others have approached the task of evaluating such workshops.

Hi Dinesh,

First, I would like to thank you for sharing your inputs, and I'm sure it's going to help me in the long run. I understand that change cannot be expected in a day or two, but since the training is already over and prior to that, I had not conducted pre-training assessment.

Ideally, what I feel now is to develop a LIP with respect to the Personality Development training and evaluate it on a timely basis. Can you please shed some light on what critical parameters can be taken care of while measuring the employees' performance post-training? I appreciate your time in considering my request.

Thank you very much for your thoughts. I shall ensure in the future that I conduct a pre-training assessment before the actual training begins. I would appreciate a little more input if you have any examples of post-training evaluation in real-time.
