Can My Maid's Son with Seizures Access ESI Benefits? Seeking Advice on Eligibility

I have a maid working at my house. She has a son who is 18 years old and suffers from seizures and other neural problems. I would like to inquire whether she can avail the benefits of ESI in any way.

I hope it is not possible. A person whose salary is less than 10,000/- and pays ESI Contribution of 1.75% in the contribution period is only eligible for any medical treatment from ESI Hospitals in the Benefit Period.

Presently, it is not possible. However, very soon in the near future, it may be possible. The Domestic Servant Bill, which has already been drafted, includes provisions for all benefits such as pension, bonus, gratuity, etc.

ESI is not applicable in your case, and for the newly drafted domestic act, there is insurance coverage for all servants. They will receive benefits of medical insurance and pension. All the premiums have to be paid by the employer.

Soon, your maid will be covered under the insurance policy.
