How to Handle ESI Record Inspections for Documents Over Two Decades Old?

rajeshsharma
Dear Friends,

There is a case where the Deputy Director of ESIC is requesting an inspection of the records from the year 1999-2000. However, it is not possible for us to provide such an old record.

I am inquiring if there are any specific rulings or guidelines regarding the inspection or preservation of records from the last five years?

Thank you,

Regards,
Rajesh

Hi,

Yes, there are guidelines to preserve records for 5 years. According to sub-clause (2) of clause 32 of The Employees' State Insurance (General) Regulation, 1950.

2. Inspection book
3. Various returns (Form No. 6) half-yearly
4. Cash book/ledger
5. Balance sheet
6. Vouchers, if required
