How Do I Calculate Pro-Rata Casual and Medical Leaves for a March Start Date? Urgent Help Needed

sojuloyola@yahoo.com
Dear My Seniors,

Please help me with the following issue. Our company has two types of leaves: Casual and Medical leaves. Casual leave is 10 days per year, while Medical leave is 12 days per year (1 day per month).

I would like to understand how to calculate the total number of Casual and Medical leaves availed by an employee who starts in March. Is there a formula available to calculate leaves on a pro-rata basis?

Please guide me on this matter. It's urgent.

Dear,

What formulas do you need to calculate these on a pro-rata basis? What is your doubt?

Thank you for your question.

If an employee leaves starting from February, what would be the total amount of leave they are entitled to receive in that particular year? This includes both medical and casual leave entitlement.

You can use the following formula for calculating Casual & Medical leave:

[ text{Months x Entitlement/year} ]
[ 12 ]
i.e. to say his Casual leave entitlement will be = ( 10 times 10 / 12 = 8 ) days
and his Medical leave entitlement will be = ( 10 times 12 / 12 = 10 ) days
(ignore the fraction if it is less than 5 and increase by a day if it is > 5)

I hope the above clarifies your need.

Yes, you should calculate the number of leaves on total working days and get the average accordingly. Always start counting the leaves from January to December. If you are calculating from March, then there is no problem.
