Hi! Can anyone please share the requisite qualifications for being appointed as a 'Welfare Officer' as per the Factories Act? Is sanction to be obtained from any authority, or just intimation? Is there any prescribed form/format to be filled?
As per the Factories Act, any company/industry having more than 500 employees is mandatory to have a welfare officer. If the industry has more than 250 female employees, then the welfare officer must be female.
About qualifications, Masters of Social Work graduates are preferred, or those with an MA specialized in sociology are also appointed as welfare officers.
When compliance is to be made under The Factories Act, 1948, then we may approach the area Factory Inspector for guidance on the recruitment of Welfare Officers. It is hoped that every state must have State Recruitment Rules for the appointment of Welfare Officers.
Can you clarify my doubt? I've completed my MBA in Marketing and HR and am currently working as an HR executive for a reputed industry. I have recently been selected as a welfare officer for a renowned company. As per the requirements, I am supposed to submit a certificate stating that I am eligible for the welfare officer post.
Now, can you please tell me whether I am eligible or not?
Can anyone please tell me what the conditions are for resigning from the position of Welfare Officer according to the Maharashtra Factory Act 1948? Also, how many days before and to whom should notice be given?
