Me too share(d) a similary crisis...Not now, rather I swam across. I realised...If I want to grow in career, I better manage 'him'. I have not sought advice from any books more over I felt books are too conditional...
Me identified this issue some 8 mths ago, now as on this month am ok to work with him(managed)
** Me ensured that what ever, he asked me to do...have did in 'lighting speed' (more often I enure to excite him with the TAT). This helped me to gain his mind-share despite its tough to be 'stay on' with the sweet revenge! Needless to mention the temptation to quit job and on my effort to prove him(all) that I know the job better!
** Thankfully, this effort a mine bear fruit...me redefinig TAT, process etc on job. When I look back, what has worked for me is the fire/revenge to prove him that am too-good-not-to-miss, which created a greater visibility/ acceptance among senior management in me...and instead for cribbing, I channelised my effort to take revenge which culminated in regaining my share. Now if I quit, its proved that more than me somebody missed! It took 7 months of undaunting effort to fight againist the odd (may be that odd-man). ** What if, after 7 months of my effort nothing changing.... Pl quit! (that was my plan). Fortunate enough, I fought and changed!
