Dear Rohit,
As you may know, the Shops & Commercial Establishment Act is a State Act. Therefore, Shops Acts from all the States are not available from a single source. Keeping this aspect in mind, this query cannot be termed as a small one. To start with, The Punjab Shops & Commercial Establishment Act, 1958, clarifies that the definition of a Shop & Commercial Establishment differs. In the case of Commercial Establishments, the motive is profit, meaning any premises where any business, trade, or profession is carried out for profit is considered a commercial establishment. However, in the definition of a 'Shop,' no such condition is present. This Act applies to the States of Haryana, Punjab & UT Chandigarh. For more details, you can also refer to the definitions of Commercial Establishment & Shop under section 2 of this Act.
