Hi,

Do we have to provide a paid holiday in an IT company on account of the 2009 election in Bangalore? Is this mandatory as per the Election Commission, labor laws, Shops & Establishment Act, etc.?

It is Really Funny & Amazing to Know about this Question..

We talk about adhering the Rules & Policies Etc.,

We Live in a Country where there is a Major Exercise is Happening, In which all Indians are expected to voice their right.

We talk about India is not improving, India is that this,

But when it comes to exercising our right, we never look ourselves

It is very Hard that the HR Person who needs to adhere & set an Example for other employees is asking whether we need to Give Holiday or Not.

The other person Says No Holiday.

U will ask voting will happen in minutes time, why we need to give holiday.

Will u ask the Same question if u r in US, Europe or any other Country.

I can recall what APJ told about our own Indians when they are abroad & when they are in India.

Please go as per rules of the Soil wherever you are.

Create an Awareness Make them Exercise their Right.

Create Better India & make it a Best Place for our Generation….

Let us Wake UP

Guys, guys, guys!

Let's not fight over this. Government bodies - compulsory day off during the election day (paid). In the private sector, it's at the company's discretion; some companies give a paid day off, some offer a half-day or the first session off, allowing employees to vote and return to work, while others provide time off and require compensation by working on Saturday.

I strongly believe that regardless of whether it's a holiday, a two-hour permission, or a regular working day, everyone should vote and contribute to the nation by choosing the right candidates.

Commissioner of Labour, Andhra Pradesh, has issued a notification declaring Monday, 23rd November 2009, as a paid holiday under the AP Shops and Establishments Act. The IT & ITES Industry will also come under the purview of this notification.

It has been clarified by the IT&C Department and the Labour Department that it should be declared a paid holiday by the industry without any qualifying timings, etc.
