Basement Usage Under Factory Act 1948: Regulations and Restrictions

Could anyone please provide me with ideas on whether we can use the basement for machine installation? If possible, please specify the section and clause under the Factory Act, 1948. I work in the HR department of an automobile manufacturing company.

I have also inquired from the Labour Office in Gurgaon regarding this query. They have informed me that this is not allowed under the provisions of the Act and rules. I have not enquired about the specific section or rules. Therefore, I would suggest that you contact the Sonepat Labour Office (Factory Wing). For any further clarification, you may contact the Assistant Director (Industrial Safety & Health) in Sonepat or the Senior Assistant Director (Industrial Safety & Health) in Panipat to inquire about the relevant section and rules.

I too feel the same as what Mr. Khola has said, and I do not think you can officially set the machinery in the basement for production. Please confirm with the factories department.

Our factory was inspected by a factory inspector, and they charged us because we have a large machinery plant in our basement. Ours is a manufacturing unit. Can anyone tell me if having machinery in the basement is allowed under the Factory Act? Please provide the relevant section as well.

Can anyone please suggest where to find the use of a basement in a factory? According to me, a basement can be used for storage only. But how to find this in the act? Please help by sharing a link.
