Can anyone please tell if a career in a call center is worth it?

Hi,

It depends on which position and for which process you are joining the call center. Let me know, I would be able to help you out.

Hi Renu,

I have been working with ICICI credit cards PBO and am now looking to pivot my career towards HR. Even my friends at Dell are currently working in different processes but are interested in transitioning into the HR field. How beneficial do you think this move will be for our careers?

Sharath

Hi Sharath,

Can you provide more information about your current profile at ICICI Cards PBO? Are you working as a Telemarketing Executive or in another role there? This information would be helpful in assisting you.

Prashant :)

Hi Sharath,

HR itself is a very wide term. 2 years ago, I was working as a CCE in an international call center. Through an Internal Job Posting (IJP), I got an opportunity to work in the HR department. You can also explore IJP (Internal Job Posting/Internal Job Promotions) in your company.

If you are not HR qualified, consider starting with recruitment. I would suggest focusing on IT recruitments or middle and senior-level recruitments in BPOs, as they are more challenging and offer long-term career growth.

Hi JSC,

I think if you consider this as a part-time job, then in my view, it is not a bad path. However, as a full-time career, I believe working in a call center is not a long-term career choice. You can easily get bored with your job since there is no variation other than being stuck in your headset full time. It offers no actual career growth or challenges.

It's just my view!!!

Hi,

Thank you Renu, Ashr, and Prassnth for your valuable suggestions. I got an offer from a software development company as an in-house recruiter, and I am joining.

Thank you once again.

JSC
