How to Start a Cost-Effective Reward Program for Diverse Teams During a Recession?

Hi,

I wish to start a reward and recognition program for a team of about 50 employees. I would like to create a process for the same. Reward and recognition would include providing a certificate of appreciation or a certificate of commendable performance, for example, like employee of the month or an extra mile award.

Please suggest how one can determine the best performer in the team when different teams have different sets of responsibilities. Also, how can these certificates be prepared at the lowest cost, considering the recession in the economy and companies are implementing cost-cutting measures.

Please advise.

Akshita has specifically asked to provide material for making decisions on the best performer in teams of employees with different responsibilities. It is appreciated that you have provided a detailed list of materials that can be used in award-giving functions by the HR members.

However, it is suggested that Akshita may review employee/self-appraisal posts/threads on this site for finalizing the best performer of the unit. He/She may prepare the certificates on the computer itself to factor in cost-cutting measures.

Hello Akshita,

Kindly take a look at Discovering Future Performers in Your Team; it may give you some ideas.

I think the best way would be for you to identify some key common features for the success of teams and ask each team member to rate others (independent of each other), then work out the scores. I have done this with my students when they were allocated group work, to distribute equitably the group assessment marks to individual team members.
