Dealing with an Aggressive Boss: How Can I Manage Her Rude Behavior and Miscommunication?

yogitachawla2006
Hi everybody. I am Yogita, working as an HR assistant in a private organization. My boss is very aggressive. She has a lot of work pressure, and I think due to this, her nature and behavior have become very rude. It's difficult to understand her. She used to forget the work and never pays attention when I give her feedback. But after 2-3 weeks, she asks the same thing and blames me that I haven't told her anything regarding the particular matter. It's a regular case. She frequently changes her statement and scolds unnecessarily, sometimes putting her mistakes on me. How should I treat her? Can anybody tell me what should I do?

Dear Yogita,

Please communicate with your boss via email, which you can always use as proof.

Dear Yogita,

Hi,

Do you know the golden rules, i.e.,
Rule No. 1: Boss is always right,
Rule No. 2: If the Boss is wrong, please follow Rule No. 1.

Please go through the attached e-book, which I downloaded long back from this site. I hope it will help you.

Hi Yogita,

Yours is a very common situation. I 100% second Ravi's suggestion of communicating via emails. This will at least take care of the accusations put on you.

Also, I think one must always be confident when he/she is not wrong. Be prepared to confront your boss and tell her politely but sternly what you feel. Try to make your boss accountable for her forgetfulness/callousness for whatever reasons it is, by politely reminding her about it.

Hi Yogita,

I feel you should interact more with your boss so that she feels that you are caring for her. I think this may change her attitude and style of functioning. :-P

Ravi is right. Do your communication via emails or in black and white with a CC to someone also.
