Seeking Career Guidance: How to Transition from Recruitment to Core HR in Delhi?

neeru..
Respected Seniors,

I have 2 years of experience, with 11 months as a Counselor in a training institute and 1.3 years in hardcore recruitment. I have already left my job and am currently in Delhi, looking for an opening in core HR. I am also attaching my updated resume.

I am seeking guidance on which sector I should pursue. Currently, I am receiving openings in BPOs for calling and recruitment firms. Your assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Kindly help me out.

Nowadays, everyone wants to come into HARDCORE HR. First, get into the CORE of yourself, and then see... You have experience only in recruitment, how do you expect to get into hardcore HR?

Hi Neeru,

Since the market is very down, I suggest joining wherever you can find any openings. Working in a BPO could also be a good option. First, gain some experience, and then you can choose your own path.

Recruitment is an important part of HR. There is immense growth scope in the same field. I suggest you continue with your recruitment job and gain experience in the same instead of creating a gap in your career waiting for a core HR opportunity (as you don't have any experience in the same).

Hello Neeru

You must have skills as well as the right attitude, but the timing is wrong. The industry is going through a recession wherein layoffs and cost-cutting are the order of the day. The time is more difficult for freshers (with less than 3 years of experience). So, either you accept what you are offered or wait.

Thanks and Regards,
Sanjeev

I have around 8 years of experience in Generalistic HR, including Recruitment, and an overall experience of 12 years. Even I am finding it difficult to get a breakthrough into HR finally due to the recession. Hope things get better fast; otherwise, the risk I took of 6 months of being an EA would make me a permanent EA for the rest of my life. No one helps; it's you only who has to find a way and a solution to your problem.

Hi,

I think Shweta is right, and you should try in any organization/industry for the HR position.

Respected Seniors,

Firstly, I am very glad for these wonderful advice. Now, as per the response, I am having two options whether to continue with Placements or with BPO. Kindly help me out which way I should go that will help me to grow in the future.

With Regards,
Neeru

Dear seniors,

I am a fresh MBA-HR graduate undergoing my dissertation work these days. When it comes to current job openings, most of them are in recruitment, particularly in consultancies. If I were to join one of these consultancies, does that mean my chances of later transitioning into the core HR field will be limited? I would appreciate your guidance on this matter.

Thank you.
