Who Pays the Stipend for I.T.I. Apprentices: The Company or the Institute?

Hi Friends,

When the I.T.I. employee is taken by the manufacturing unit for training under the apprenticeship act, who is responsible for paying the stipend to the employee - the company or the I.T.I.?

Please help.

Hi,

If the apprentice is registered with the Apprenticeship Board, then the board will pay the employer. However, the employer has to pay the stipend first and get reimbursed by the Board.

The board will reimburse only for the Technician Apprentices (Diploma or BE in Engineering). For ITI Apprentices, no reimbursement will be given by the Board of Apprenticeship Training.

Hi all,

I am talking about the apprentices for Electrician, Machinist, Turner, etc. They also come under the Apprentice Act. Can we claim their stipend from the Board?

Dear Raj,

I am facing the same problem on the same issue. If you find any solution, please forward it to me as well.

There is no provision for claiming reimbursement of the stipend paid to ITI apprentices under the Apprentices Act. However, reimbursement can be claimed at 50% of the stipend paid to Diploma or Graduate Apprentices (Diploma/Degree in Engineering) under the Act.
